Baskerville Sports Pavilion Upgrade, Lot 2 (No.131) Memorial Avenue, Baskerville

The Western Australian Planning Commission has received a development application (REF #21-2641-3) on behalf of City of Swan for development approval at Lot 2 (No.131) Memorial Avenue, Baskerville under the Swan Valley Planning Scheme No. 1.

The application proposes:

• external additions to the existing pavilion building consisting of a new bin store area, umpire and first aid rooms, new entrance foyer with portico, new toilets and change rooms, and extension to the existing hall/function room;
• extension to external storeroom;
• reconfiguring the internal layout to include additional change rooms and toilets including universal access toilets;
• external modification to the building including additional windows, roofing extension, rendering of the external façade and additional solar panels; and
• additional incidental items such as new bike racks, Australian Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled (ACROD) ramp, and landscaping.

No changes are proposed to the existing vehicle access and existing formal car parking areas. The existing on-site informal gravel parking is proposed to be formalised with an additional five parking bays. The total formal on-site parking provision across Lot 1 (No.129) and Lot 2 (No.131) Memorial Avenue, will increase to 29 bays, including one ACROD bay.

When assessed against the nominated parking standard for ‘Recreation – Private’ of one car space for every four people accommodated, the proposal results in an onsite parking shortfall of 26 bays.

Existing informal carparking within the verge areas is proposed to remain as overflow parking.

The application is open for comment until 18 August 2026.
