Overview
A significant development application for a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Ravenswood has been received by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) under Part 11B of the Planning and Development Act 2005.
The application proposes a 150 megawatt-capacity BESS at 572 and Lot 13 Paterson Road, Ravenswood.
The development would be located within a 5-hectare compound and comprises the following elements:
- 156 battery storage modules and 52 electrical inverters
- 33 kV high voltage transformer
- 33 kV cable connecting the BESS infrastructure and transformer switchyard
- Site infrastructure, including switchyard, operations and maintenance building, site office and parking
- Access roads, water tanks and ancillary equipment and infrastructure.
The application also includes installation of a high voltage cable connection to the Western Power Pinjarra substation via Lot 13 Paterson Road
The application from Urbanplan, on behalf of ACE Power, is required to be advertised to seek public comments and is open until 14 August 2025.
The development is valued at $212 million.
