Overview
The Western Australian Planning Commission is seeking public comment on a proposal to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) for land in the City of Rockingham. The amendment proposes to transfer approximately 46 hectares of land in Karnup from the Rural zone and Railways reservation to the Urban, Parks and Recreation, and Railways zones and reservations in the Metropolitan Region Scheme, specifically:
Urban - 40-hectare Karnup Station Precinct is proposed to be rezoned from Rural to Urban.
Parks and Recreation - Land along the northern and eastern boundary of the amendment area is proposed to be rezoned from Rural to Parks and Recreation reservation and included in Bush Forever Site 379. An area of land west of the rail line is proposed to be rezoned from Railways to Parks and Recreation.
Railways - The existing Railways reserve is proposed to be amended to be consistent with the current design of Karnup Station (and associated infrastructure).
The proposed amendment is consistent with the South Metropolitan Peel Sub-regional Planning Framework and will be progressed as a Standard amendment
Submissions close Thursday 12 September 2024. Late submissions may not be considered.
