Consultation has concluded
Overview
The Design Review Guide plays an important role in guiding the design review processes at the local government level. This project seeks to review and update the Design Review Guide, which will become the Local Government Design Review Panel Manual (the Manual). The Manual will provide clearer guidance, streamline procedures and support more efficient and effective design review practices.
Project objectives:
Implement more flexible and efficient design review procedures for local government Design Review Panels.
Clarify expectations and bring greater consistency to design review practices at the local government level.
Provide clarity to the development industry regarding requirements for successful design review.
Empower local governments with updated best practices and resources for effective design review.
Have your say
We invited stakeholders, including local government representatives, development proponents, industry professionals and others involved in the design review process to provide feedback on the draft Local Government Design Review Panel (LGDRP) Manual.
The consultation period ran from 15 October to 26 November 2024, during which stakeholders could review the draft LGDRP Manual and templates and provide feedback.
Next steps
The project team will now review all feedback received and consider ways of addressing concerns and incorporating suggestions into the final version of the Manual. Following WAPC approval, the updated Manual will be published online and distributed to local governments and stakeholders, supporting improved design review practices statewide.
It is anticipated the updates to any Local Design Review Panel Planning Policies and Terms of Reference integrate the updated guidance in the Manual.
