Overview
The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is seeking public comment on a proposal to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) map and map legend.
The proposed Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) amendment aims to include the EC (Environmental Conditions) symbol on the MRS map to reflect the areas that are currently subject to Environmental Conditions. The amendment also seeks to update the MRS map legend for clarity, by changing:
Under the heading ‘Reserved lands’
Delete ‘Public Purposes - University (U)’ and ‘Public Purposes - Technical School (TS)’ and insert ‘Public Purposes - Tertiary Education (TE)’; and
Delete ‘Public Purposes - State Electricity Commission (SEC)’ and ‘Public Purposes - Water Corporation of WA (WSD)’ and insert ‘Public Purposes - Public Utilities (PU)’.
The proposed amendment is purely administrative, and will not impact existing zoning, reservation or development rights. The proposed amendment is to be progressed as a standard region scheme amendment as it is generally consistent with the State and Strategic Planning Framework.
Submissions close Monday 23 December 2024. Late submissions may not be considered.
Please direct queries for more information on the abovementioned amendment to the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage by email to RegionPlanningSchemes@dplh.wa.gov.au or telephone (08) 6551 9000.
