In 2023, the Shire of Dardanup received Amendment 1 to the Parkridge Estate Structure Plan. The Structure Plan area included Lots 9008 and 9503 Peninsula Lakes Drive and Lot 9054 Leicester Ramble, Eaton.

Amendment 1 sought to:

  • Amend the areas zoned Residential R40 area to Residential R20-R40 within Lot 9008.
  • Include Lot 9054 within the structure plan area with a new access via an alternative access leg which crosses the regional open space reserve and identify Lot 9054 as Residential R5.

Amendment 1 was advertised in accordance with the clause 18 of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Scheme) Regulations 2015 by the Shire of Dardanup. The submission period extended over 42 days, commencing from 6 July 2023 and concluding on 17 August 2023. As part of the consultation, residents within 500m were directly notified by the Shire.

Following consideration of the Shire’s Council, Amendment 1 was submitted to the Western Australian Planning Committee (WAPC) for determination.

On 30 April 2024, the Statutory Planning Committee as delegate of the WAPC refused Amendment 1. The details of WAPC’s original decision are available in the meeting agenda and minutes.

Following the decision, the applicant sought review by applying to the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT). The WAPC has since been invited by the SAT to reconsider its decision pursuant to section 31 of the State Administrative Tribunal Act 2004. The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (the Department), on behalf of the WAPC has received an amended Parkridge Estate Structure Plan – Amendment No.1 (Amended Structure Plan).

The amended structure plan looks to (among other things) re-distribute public open space and dwelling density, alter lot design and the movement network.

To inform the WAPC’s reconsideration of the Amended Structure Plan, the Department is inviting further public feedback. Feedback is open to general public and can be provided by completing the online survey below.
