Overview

A development application proposing construction works, amenities improvements and utilities upgrade for a portion of the proposed Perth Park project has been received by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) under Part 10 of the Metropolitan Region Scheme.

The application proposes:

  • earth and drainage works
  • constructing part of a multi-use racetrack
  • landscaping and public space improvements
  • roadworks and utilities upgrade, and
  • demolition of various roads, footpaths and infrastructure.

The application was submitted by the Department of Housing and Works on behalf of Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery. It is being advertised by the WAPC to seek public comments and is open until 2 April 2026.

The Perth Park project has an estimated value of $217.5m. Approximately $20m is the cost of the development proposed under this development application.

Scope of this application

The proposed Perth Park site is subject to two separate approval pathways:

  • the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) and
  • the Casino (Burswood Island) Agreement Act 1985.

This application to the WAPC under the MRS proposes development within Lot 2001 (Optus Stadium Precinct), Lot 2006 Camfield Drive road reserve and the Victoria Park Drive road reserve (no lot number) – please see the development application (DA) boundary (in red) in the sitemap above.

The WAPC does not have a role in development outside the DA boundary that is approved under the Casino (Burswood Island) Agreement Act 1985.
