Overview
The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is seeking public comment on proposed constructionofagriculturalgreenhousestotalling 4,960m2in the Swan Valley planning area.
The proposal applies to Lot 2900 (No.665) Great Northern Highway, Herne Hill.
The proposal comprises of:
•Theconstructionofagriculturalgreenhousestotalling 4,960m2. The greenhouses will be used to grow various vegetables and herbs such as cucumbers and ginger. The greenhouse structure will be constructed from a steel frame with polyethylene material covering the structure which provides for a consistent warm environment.
•The 4,960m development area consists of 31 greenhouses witheachindividualgreenhousestotalling20mx8m arranged in 3 rows separated by 6m wide accessways.
•The vegetables and herbs will be hydroponically grown with coco peat and will be irrigated.Fan ventilation will assist in regulating the temperature.
•A total of 8 persons will be working onsite, with some occasional casual employees.The applicant has advised that no onsite sales of produce will occur.
•The greenhouses will have a maximum height of 4.2m
