The story behind the place
Overview
The Heritage Council of Western Australia is currently considering whether Fishing Boat Harbour, Fremantle should be included in the State Register of Heritage Places. The Council believes the place is likely to be of State cultural heritage significance for its association with the history of post-WWII migration to Western Australia, especially that of migrants from Southern Europe and their contribution to the evolution of the fishing industry in Fremantle. Registration will celebrate this story and acknowledge the importance of the Fishing Boat Harbour as a popular recreational destination for both locals and visitors alike.

Next steps
Now that the comment period has closed, the Heritage Council will consider all submissions and decide whether to recommend to the Minister for Heritage that Fishing Boat Harbour, Fremantle be included in the State Register of Heritage Places. The Minister will make the final decision on registration.
