Frequently asked questions
Why is the application being re-advertised?
Following the Department’s assessment of the original application, which took into account comments received from agencies and the public, the Applicant submitted revised plans for consideration by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). As public consultation is an important component of our planning system, the revised plans have been advertised for feedback.
What is different about the application?
Modifications include an increase in height from 16 to 18 storeys and changes to the setbacks and façade design, with more glazing and enclosed balconies. No changes are proposed to the number of apartments or commercial tenancies, or to the number of parking bays.
Has the application changed in value?
The application has not changed in value as a result of the changes.
Will the local government be consulted?
Yes, the Town of Victoria Park is being consulted as the responsible local government authority for comment on the application.
Will my submission be shared with the Town or Applicant?
Your submission and contact information will not be published and they will not be shared with the Town or Applicant. A summary of the feedback from all submissions, covering the themes and key issues raised, will be shared with the Town and Applicant so that they have an opportunity to respond to the matters raised. A summary of submissions is included in the report presented to the WAPC for determination. To assist in its deliberations, details of all submissions are shared with Commission members on a confidential basis.
Has the revised application been subject to design review?
No, the revised plans have not undergone design review. The plans that were advertised in February-March 2024 were subject to design review.
The report from the final design review will be included in the planning report submitted to the WAPC to help in its decision.
When will this application be determined?
There are no statutory timeframes to assess a development application under the temporary Part 17 Significant Development Pathway, however applications are required to be determined as soon as is reasonably practical. Once a meeting date is confirmed, any person who made a submission on the development application will be advised by WAPC officers and offered the opportunity to attend the meeting either in person or online. Members of the public can also apply to make a presentation (deputation) to the WAPC.
Will I be advised about the outcome of the application?
If you agreed to be contacted when you made your original online submission, you will be notified of the application outcome.
