Consultation closes 6 October 2026

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is seeking public comment on a proposal to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) for land in the cities of Armadale, Cockburn, Gosnells, Rockingham and the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.

The purpose of the amendment is to update various zones and reservations in the south-east and south-west districts of the MRS. Proposals in the amendment include small scale amendments which do not warrant consideration as individual amendments, the rationalisation of zones and reservations to match cadastral boundaries, updates to reflect infrastructure and buildings as constructed, and other general updates to ensure the MRS is kept up-to-date as the statutory plan for the Metropolitan area.

The amendment contains 26 separate proposals in the cities of Armadale, Cockburn, Gosnells, Rockingham and the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.

The proposed amendment is to be progressed as a standard region scheme amendment as the proposals primarily correct mapping errors, cadastral misalignments, and reserve boundaries to reflect constructed infrastructure or intended end land uses and are otherwise administrative or minor in nature.

Submissions close Tuesday, 6 October 2026. Late submissions may not be considered.

Please direct queries for more information on the abovementioned amendment to the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage by email to RegionPlanningSchemes@dplh.wa.gov.au or telephone (08) 6551 9000.
