Overview
The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) invites community feedback on the draft Amendment No. 1 to the North Ellenbrook (East) District Structure Plan (DSP).
The draft Amendment applies to various lots within the approved DSP boundary comprising of approximately 500 hectares (ha) of land. The DSP area is bounded by Warbrook Road to the North, Maralla Road to the south, Tonkin Highway to the west and Railway Parade and rural land to the east. Please see the map above.
The draft Amendment identifies:
an additional 18.1ha of potential local reserves to protect black cockatoo foraging habitat and western swamp tortoise habitat. This is in response to Environment Protection Authority (EPA) advice provided for the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) Amendment 1411.
two potential road network upgrades, including a local road link to Ellenbrook at the western end of Maralla Road and for a grade separated rail crossing at the eastern end of Maralla Road to make allowance for the potential future eastward extension to Great Northern Highway.
If approved, the draft Amendment would provide enhanced guidance for local structure plans to protect significant environmental values and make provision for road network upgrades.
The draft Amendment has been prepared by CLE Town Planning + Design, on behalf of Abadeen Group Pty Ltd and Bravestar Group.
