Consultation closes 17 November 2025

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is seeking public comment on the following two related applications.

1. A development application for residential development at Lot 34 (No.28) Seymour Avenue, Shenton Park.

Situated within the Shenton Park Hospital Redevelopment Improvement Scheme area (also known as ‘Montario Quarter’), the application proposes demolition of the existing single-storey building with a small portion to be retained, and construction of new eight townhouses, and two multiple dwellings. The development is valued at $6.8 million.

2. An application to amend the Montario Quarter Area A and Area B Design Guidelines under the Shenton Park Hospital Redevelopment Improvement Scheme.

The Design Guidelines amendments propose moving Lot 34 from Area A (set out for multiple dwellings) to Area B (grouped dwellings) with alterations to the block design.

The subject lot is part of the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital State Heritage Listing (P2971). The existing building on the site is the single-storey former Sir George Bedbrook Spinal Unit Building – G-Block which has been vacant since 2014 when operations were transferred to Fiona Stanley Hospital. The lot is also on the City of Nedlands Local Heritage List.

Further details of the proposal are outlined in the applicant’s documents listed in the Key Documents section on the right.
