Who is the applicant for this development and who is the owner of the site?
The applicant is the City of Joondalup. The land is owned by the State of Western Australia with a management order to the City of Joondalup.
Who is the decision maker for this development application?
The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). The development application will be determined by the WAPC under Part 10 of the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS)
What is the role of Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage in this project?
The Department officers will assess the application and make a recommendation to the Western Australian Planning Commission under the Metropolitan Region Scheme.
Why is this proposal being advertised?
Pursuant to clause 41 of the Metropolitan Region Scheme, the application is being advertised to the public. This is to obtain community feedback on the proposed development as part of the assessment process.
Has this proposal been advertised before?
In 2024, the City of Joondalup undertook a public consultation process on the proposed redevelopment of the Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club.
This application relates only to the proposed café/restaurant and is being advertised for the first time to seek community feedback.

The site is reserved for Regional Open Space under the Metropolitan Region Scheme.
